With each and every post, we strive here at Creative Tempest to bring you only the best artists from around the world. This post comes to you all the way from NYC, New York, with our artist being none other than Joe Jusko. What makes this artist so special is that it’s a safe assumption to say that the majority of people alive today have seen his artwork! His work includes paintings and illustrations for characters such as Hawk Man, The Green Lantern, Conan the Barbarian, The Punisher, Lara Croft, and Captain America just to name a few. Producing his first cover at the age of 17 for Heavy Metal Magazine in 1977, Joe Jusko is a comic book artist who has worked for all the major comic book companies including Marvel, DC, Crusade, Innovation, Harris, Wildstorm, Top Cow, and Byron Preiss. Graduating that year as well from the New York High School of Art & Design (the only high school in the country that offers a curriculum geared towards commercial art) he received the DC Comics Award of Excellence in Cartooning. In 2007 Joe Jusko was inducted into the prestigious Society of Illustrators and received the Certificate of Merit from them for his more recent work in ‘Tomb Raider’ (based off the popular PlayStation videogame). Aron Jancso

Here at Creative Tempest, we bring you only the best artwork from around the world. Our next artist we have chosen to feature is a typeface artist from Budapest, Hungary, named Aron Jancso. Aron Jancso is a man who spends his time skillfully drawing and designing letters. We love how he displays simplicity yet distinctness in his typefaces and how his glyphs, though silent on paper, leap off the page and scream at you with bold attitude. Something over in Hungary is inspiring him in a way that makes us want to visit. To sum it all up with one word: sick! We’re happy to post such creative talent and vision here on Creative Tempest and hope that you’ll share the same appreciation for their great artwork that we do. Seb Lester’s words do not sit still on the page. Watching closely, you can actually see the letters grow and curl off the page. The wandering serifs reach out and wrap around sans fonts like the revered Helvetica, choking it like kudzu on an oak tree. Unlike that destructive Japanese weed, Seb Lester’s creations are full of beauty and life. (Weekly Story Theme: Horror) Ben Tour plucks a single hair from his head and drops it into the ooze he has bubbling on his electric stovetop. A sudden puff of smoke, and the smell of an impending storm in the air signals that his arcane enchantment has taken effect. Across town in Shady Acres cemetery the corpses of the long dead, all but those who have turned to dust arise from the earth, born again, but not living. Ben Tours’s gaunt figure drawings, spattered in cool water colors and the odd dash of blood red, stick out like zombies on his canvas.

In the depths of the ocean lurks a creature mutable in both shape and color, a fantastic octopus that can transforms and mimic its surroundings. It is from this deep creature that Alex Forster must find inspiration for his changing, plastic images.

Nanami Cowdroy

(Weekly Story Theme: Romance) Nanami Cowdroy tented her fingers together and twiddled her thumbs. Her legs were crossed tightly, and she was sunk far down into a huge comfortable couch with a pillow stuck between her arms and her chest. As if to remain balanced on a fulcrum, her date sat at the opposite end of the sofa. Nanami clicked the remote, and the T.V. image shrunk to blackness, and the only sound left in the room was the gurgle of a large tropical fish tank that stood behind the couch. As Nanami scooted in closer to her date, so he scooted closer to her, maintaining that tricky balance. The kissing Gouramis fluttered around in the tank and pressed their lips together, as Nanami Cowdroy and her date did the same. Ever since that first kiss, Nanami Cowdroy has been inspired by exotic fish in her art.
