(Weekly Story Theme: Detective) A stash of papers explodes from a briefcase like hidden doves in a magician’s hat breaking free during the act. The edge of the thief’s stolen briefcase caught the top of a wrought iron fence as he escaped from the Governor’s mansion, chased by Detective Peter Callesen. The thief, who Detective Peter Callsen had been tailing all day, may have gotten away over the fence in the flurry of papers, but at least Peter Callsen now knew what he was after the whole time. Peter Callesen drew together all the paper that had been flung out all over the estate, and from them unraveled the entire mystery. Peter Callesen is a master of paperwork, drawing forth from a simple flat sheet, complex images that indicate even more complex stories.

(Weekly Theme: Space) A white abyss of nothingness rips apart like a seam. From the tear pours an intense array of colors. The colors flash and alternate like beats in a measure. A rhythm, an order to things, spills out from where there was no light, no color, no direction, and no time. No, this is not the creation of a new galaxy. This is the art of Jen Stark, an intense experience made from simple colored craft paper.

Like a miner tears through solid earth to find his treasure, Fred Eerdekens tears through light to find his treasure, but while the miner searches for material gain, Fred Eerdekens looks for beauty in his art. Fred Eerdekens hidden messages inside of his sculptures show us that something mysterious can make sense once a light is shone on it.

Lucy McRae and Bart Hess

Perhaps Lucy and Bart’s bizarre costumes provide us with a look into the future where silliness and sophisticated plastic surgery combine to allow humans instant evolution into whatever imaginative creature they desire. This is one future Creative Tempest would like to live in as long as there was an undo button on your transformation, in fact, if that really were the case, we’d be looking into cryogenic freezing at this very moment. However, no one can be sure of what the future holds, and this is why Lucy and Bart work now to create wonderfully unique costumes designed to exaggerate, mutate, and often completely deny the human form, on which they hang.
