In the latter half of the 19th century, Sigmund Freud failed in his efforts to study, reconstruct, and understand the human brain. And for over a century man’s attempts have all been for naught in this endeavor, until there was George Hart. George Hart may look to be a geometric sculptor, but he’s actually the only person ever to reconstruct accurate models of the living human brain. You’ll see all the intricacies and facets of the mind in each and every represenation. This makes his work incredibly rare and ultra-valuable. Only a select few will ever be fortunate enough to see these marvels in real-life, consider yourself lucky.

That’s because they’ve all been slow dipped in molten lucite, cured, and mummified to live forever suspended in animation. You could say, Noel is less the mad scientist and more the mad artist on his quest to make more life-like pieces.

(Weekly Story Theme: Detective) A stash of papers explodes from a briefcase like hidden doves in a magician’s hat breaking free during the act. The edge of the thief’s stolen briefcase caught the top of a wrought iron fence as he escaped from the Governor’s mansion, chased by Detective Peter Callesen. The thief, who Detective Peter Callsen had been tailing all day, may have gotten away over the fence in the flurry of papers, but at least Peter Callsen now knew what he was after the whole time. Peter Callesen drew together all the paper that had been flung out all over the estate, and from them unraveled the entire mystery. Peter Callesen is a master of paperwork, drawing forth from a simple flat sheet, complex images that indicate even more complex stories.

A rhythm, an order to things, spills out from where there was no light, no color, no direction, and no time. No, this is not the creation of a new galaxy. This is the art of Jen Stark, an intense experience made from simple colored craft paper.

Creative Tempest is thrilled to break through the surface of cliche design and art, and descend into the truly creative abyss to find our artists and bring them into the light for you lucky viewers. We found Gerardo Monterrubio lurking all the way down at the deepest depths of imagination hanging out with deep sea beasts like vampire squid, angler fish, and the strange chimera. That must have been where Gerardo Monterrubio rediscovered decorating ceramics, an art that is almost as old as humanity, but you could hardly ever guess with how fresh his creations look.

Jennifer Maestre

A tree is logged in the forest, shipped off to a sawmill, and eventually ends up in your box of colored pencils hundreds of miles away and looking very different, but by being in touch with nature Jennifer Maestre is able to take that once natural now unnatural form and make it organic again, though in an unexpected way. The creatures she creates from such unique materials are each like Frankenstein’s monster, a beast born from discrete parts and a lighting bolt of genius.
