Edgar Mueller walks out of his quiet home every morning and questions the safe solid ground, upon which he stands, and grows discontent at how steadfast, and certain life can become if you never go too far beyond your front door. So Edgar Mueller imagines and creates a world full of danger, where your neighborhood streets could crumble below you, stripping you of safety, but refreshing your dull life with 100% concentrated action juice. Creative Tempest hopes to wake up one morning, step outside our front doors and wander into the world as Edgar Mueller has created it.

The ghost of Babe Ruth visited the dreams of Benny the Jet Rodriguez one night and left him with the message, “Remember kid, heroes get remembered, but legends never die.” In a similar line of thought, Above understands something important over most street artists, that the (wo)man will be forgotten, but what (s)he stood for will live on. So instead of just leaving passers-by with (her)his name, Above leaves us with his words, (her)his wit, what (s)he stands for.

* BLU

Shel Silverstein cuts loose in the work of BLU, and fulfills the dark undertones of his books of poems that we at Creative Tempest loved as kids. Limbs are lost like trees, heads are cracked open like eggs shells, and people are cannibalized and un-cannibalized like human Russian dolls, as BLU gives us a world in which humans are coolly taken apart like machines on a daily basis. BLU’s work asks us to literally look inside of ourselves, what you might find is not always expected, muscles, bone, blood, etc… It could be a colony of other tiny human beings, clockwork, or an empty void. For reminding us of our childhood and being so dang creepy BLU is Creative Tempest’s newest Artist of the Week.

Banksy

Banksy is iconoclastic. It’s hard not to see a work of graffiti done in stencil and not think of him, and that’s saying a lot. His work is simple and it is his daring and perfect wit that has made him famous, and known to many of you. We love him for making us stop, or making us laugh at some of life’s grim realities that we often ignore.

Kurt Wenner

We are used to featuring street artists here at Creative Tempest, but typically they are the ones, who want to write their names in the history books with a huge permanent black sharpie, but Kurt Wenner is a street artist who cares little for permanency, and he does so by choosing to create his work in chalk. Ironically, his anamorphic work will exist far longer in memory than the works of other spray canned scrawling because it literally jumps out at you.
